Not I, nor anyone else, can travel that road for you.

You must travel it by yourself.

It is not far. It is within reach.

Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know.

Perhaps it is everywhere - on water and land.

- Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

When she was eight years old, Marley started writing her own adventure stories – epic journeys to remote islands, up steep volcanos, over rugged mountain ranges, across vast desserts.

Twenty years later, Marley is living the stories she could only dream of as a little girl.

Whether she is filming at the summit of a mountain or taking photos at the bottom of the ocean, Marley will travel any road to capture a good story.

Venturing to remote parts of the world, learning about the forces that shape our planet, meeting incredible people, and documenting those experiences through photos, videos, and writing - it's a little bit like magic.

Mary Lide Parker (Marley) graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a B.A. in photojournalism in 2010.

Shortly after receiving her degree, Marley started working at UNC. She now produces feature stories, photos and videos for Endeavors magazine and UNC Research

She also does part-time freelance work, specializing in media production that features scientific discovery and the great outdoors.
